… and suddenly I see myself running forward behind the hare. Without knowing really why, what for, mere intuition or simple instinct, but that is the way I am, desperate, frenzied and putting my body to the limit to reach it, knowing that if I retrieve it, my owner will reward me and I like that, I like it very much, although I do not know why either.
Rather than running it seems that I glide caressing the land without effort, filling me with sensations and longingly enjoying this old Campo de Montiel that accounts for my existence
But what my owner does not know, is that there comes a time in which more than a task, it is an enjoyment. The speed stops being a weight and demanding effort, and starts being a steady and comfortable state. Then the pleasure starts. It is my time. The hare clears my mind, because she defines the path and I enjoy running after her. It is a game of earth and colour. At this speed and so close to the ground my senses melt with the field. I feel tied and free at the same time. Rather than stepping on,
I skip the ground with respect and I see it passing by so quickly that I miss the details. It is a different way to feel and stare at the ground, a privilege that only we have
When the race becomes constant my heart falls silent and the landscape becomes mute to turn into a burst of changing and intense colour. The wind cools my face and causes tears of pleasure, but I remain vigilant to the hare, after her, getting closer to her until, suddenly, she dodges and gets farther, but with her break the horizon changes, a diffuse and serene horizon that shows off intense colour.
I add smell to colour; today is the turn of wet ground, one of my favourites, but the hare goes on.. and with each break, a new sensation, a new colour… Rather than running it seems that I glide caressing the land without effort, filling me with sensations and longingly enjoying this old Campo de Montiel that accounts for my existence.
It is a moment of intense pleasure but limited in time, as all the good moments are.
Today at the end, the hare found the vineyard and got lost in it.
The hare got away and I feel sad, but I do not know why…
